To deliver the NBN Strategy, eight working groups are being set up to tackle actions identified as priorities by Network members in the recent round of consultation.
The working groups will focus on:
- Quality control and verification
- Mobilising historic data
- Biological recording online
- Improving biological data flows
- Increasing use of our data
- Captivating and engaging people
- Network support and development
- Strategy for the UK Species Inventory
Two working groups, ‘Quality Control and Verification’ and ‘Biological Recording Online’, have now been fully formed and an initial meeting was held on the 12th February. The membership of these groups was informed by the Action Plan consultation. Invitations were then circulated to ensure we formed groups that accurately represented the diversity of our Network. The draft Terms of Reference for these groups can be found at the links below and are currently in the process of being formalised following the first meeting. Minutes of these meetings will be available for Network discussion soon.
Each working group has a dedicated space on this website where you can follow progress of the group, feed into discussions and access relevant documentation.
We will shortly be circulating invitations to join the additional six working groups and it is expected that members will agree to at least a 12 month commitment. This will include two meetings and around two days’ work in the intervening period. Organisations will, however, only be asked to commit to what they know you can achieve. If actions arise that group members are not able to deliver themselves, the Working Group and NBN Secretariat will seek additional resource.
Each working group meeting will be chaired by an NBN Trustee and the NBN Secretariat will provide secretarial support for meetings and the group.
