The Welsh Government’s Nature Networks Fund is now open

Organisations working with natural heritage in Wales can apply for grants of between £250,000 and £1million to improve wildlife and biodiversity in and around Wales’ network of protected sites.

The fund is delivered by the Heritage Fund on behalf of the Welsh Government and in partnership with Natural Resources Wales. It aims to strengthen the resilience of Wales’ network of protected land, freshwater and marine sites, build organisations’ capacity to accelerate nature’s recovery, and engage communities.

Since its launched in 2021, the Nature Networks Fund has awarded a total of 147 projects a share of £54 million.

The fund forms a key part in the Welsh Government’s commitment to the Global Biodiversity Framework 30 by 30 goal, to protect and effectively manage 30% of the planet’s marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments by 2030.

N.B. For this round of funding, applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest by 12 noon on 5 August 2026.
