Lisa Chilton appointed as new CEO of the NBN Trust

We are delighted to announce that Lisa Chilton has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Biodiversity Network Trust (NBN Trust) and she will be joining us on 19 April 2021.

Lisa has worked in biodiversity conservation for more than 20 years, including roles with The Wildlife Trusts and Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC). An ecologist by training, she has specialised in marine biodiversity with roles ranging from citizen science, public engagement and communications to statutory advice, policy and legislation.

Lisa has held senior positions in the voluntary, public and academic sectors. She was Head of People & Wildlife at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Head of Offshore Industries Advice at JNCC and is joining us from the University of Aberdeen, where she is Head of Development. For five years she has led a fundraising team at the University that engages philanthropists, charitable trusts and businesses in supporting academic research and educational initiatives. Lisa is also a Senior Associate with Dialogue Matters ‒ an environmental consultancy specialising in stakeholder facilitation and consensus-building ‒ and a Trustee of the Scottish Association for Marine Science.

Lisa Chilton says:
“I couldn’t be more excited about joining the NBN Trust team in April. The Trust has achieved an enormous amount in its first 20 years and there are many new opportunities on the horizon.

“My top priority when I join the team will be to get to know the NBN inside and out: Trust staff and Trustees, NBN members and supporters. I’m very much looking forward to meeting everyone.”

Neil Hodges, Chair of the NBN Trust, says:
“Having received many top-quality applications, we are delighted that Lisa has accepted the post of NBN Trust CEO. I am looking forward to hearing Lisa’s ideas for the NBN and the opportunities her energy and breadth of experience will bring to the NBN Trust and, in turn, the continuing success of the Network”.
