Can advances in the use of DNA technologies provide solutions for biodiversity assessment, conservation and environmental protection? David Matthews, a consultant, has launched a survey to try and find out.
The purpose of the survey is to explore some of the applications of DNA technologies to biodiversity assessment. Based on a review of the literature, there appear to be plenty of potential applications and enthusiasm for DNA-based assessments. However, the use of such technology has been fairly limited to date, and David's hypothesis is that there are barriers to adoption. So, the research also aims to identify what these barriers may be.
