Nominations for the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022

Do you know someone working within the environmental sciences sector who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding achievements, their contributions to society or their commitment to serving and helping Britain?

If you do, create an opportunity for them to receive national recognition for all their hard work by nominating them for a UK honour. Honours are a distinctive way of acknowledging someone’s achievements and rewarding people who have made a real difference to society.

How to make a nomination

Anyone can make a nomination. This is done by providing a brief summary of why you think an individual should receive an honour – for example scientific achievements, their impact and any additional contributions outside their main line of work. UK Research & Innovation is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. Nominations for women, those with a disability and members of minority ethnic groups are strongly encouraged.

To make the strongest possible case for your nominee, it would be useful if you could:

  • provide at least two suggestions of who to contact for letters supporting the nomination.
  • include a curriculum vitae of the nominee if you have one (please see the note on GDPR below).

Someone from UK Research & Innovation may contact you for additional information.

Deadline

Nominee information for the Birthday 2022 round should be emailed to honours@nerc.ukri.org by Monday 5 July 2021.

The nomination will then be considered by an independent committee. There is considerable competition for honours, and the assessment is rigorous, so the summary you provide will assist UK Research & Innovation to complete the citation, which is the most important piece of evidence for the honours committee to consider.

GDPR

All personal information is protected in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. As such, information relating to honours is exempt from the requirement to issue a privacy notice or to respond to data subject requests. All nominations are treated in the strictest confidence. The nominee should not be informed that they have been nominated.
