New version of NBN Record Cleaner released

The NBN Record Cleaner is a tool designed to help improve the quality of wildlife records. A new version of this desktop application improves the use of the tool for local datasets, provides a better interface for exporting results and fixes a number of bugs.

Spatial rules can now be created at a higher resolution of 5KM and 2KM grid squares. This allows the development of rules at a more local rather than national level. More flexible ways of saving of records, highlighted by the tool in need for further verfication, is also provided. Addition fields may be added and the order of the fields changed in the exported file. Records can be exported directly into an Excel spreadsheet and the location of the saved file can now be chosen.

In addition to these improvements, a number of bugs have also been fixed. The use of vice-counties within the spatial rules has now been corrected; leap years are now correctly applied when checking against end dates within period temporal rules and the NBN Record Cleaner now saves results generated by running more than 500 rules.

This updated version is available to download free from here, along with an updated user guide, or through the update link provided within the NBN Record Cleaner.
