The current NBN membership scheme has been in place since summer 2010. It was created to offer a range of membership levels that would suit the broad partnership and offer something for everyone. Over time it has however, developed a number of anomalies in relation to the amounts paid by different organisations at different levels. We have also recently received legal advice stating that the benefits we give out should not be greater than the funds received in through membership. The time was therefore right to review the overall membership scheme.
The size of the Board of Trustees is limited and there is only one seat on the Board for nominations by Gold members and above. Currently the Board of Trustees is at its maximum number of 15. Members will be contacted to ask for any nominations once a space becomes available. For your information, the nominee themselves does not have to be a member.
Please see below for the changes made to the membership scheme;
For Supporters
- To comply with legal advice received, we can no longer offer a free NBN conference ticket for supporter members. Supporter members will now be eligible to receive a ½ price ticket to the conference. Priced at either £20 with the early bird or £25 at full price.
- Supporter members can no longer collectively nominate a Trustee
- Some benefits have been removed from the table as these apply to non members as well
For Bronze
- Bronze members will now receive the benefit – Priority access to free or discounted training events
- Bronze members will now receive the benefit – Stock articles on NBN for your in-house magazine by request
- Bronze members can no longer collectively nominate a Trustee
- Some benefits have been removed from the table as these apply to non members as well
- Bronze members will now lose the benefit – Priority access to guest speakers for in-company events.
For Silver
- Silver members will now receive the benefit – Priority brand presence at the NBN annual conference through delegate packs
- Silver members can no longer collectively nominate a Trustee
- Some benefits have been removed from the table as these apply to non members as well
- Silver members will lose the benefit – Priority access to guest speakers for in-company events.
For Gold
- Gold members will lose the benefit – Priority access to guest speakers for in-company events.
- A new benefit for gold members – Right to request a meeting with the chair and CEO to discuss the strategy
- Gold members can now collectively nominate one Trustee
- Some benefits have been removed from the table as these apply to non members as well
For Diamond / Founder members;
- The current Diamond level will now be called Affiliate and this is aimed at those organisations contributing significantly to the development of the NBN through a Memorandum of Agreement

The changes detailed above have been made to make the scheme fairer and to be able to comply with legal advice received regarding giving benefits that out weigh membership charges.
