As a small team working closely with members of the Network on a wide range of areas across the Strategy, the NBN Secretariat is keen to broaden its understanding of individual processes of observing and recording wildlife from the Network of experts surrounding us.
We know so many of you from meetings, the NBN Conference, email conversations and phone calls but when was the last time we were able to put our wellies on and come out and learn from you in the field?
To ensure we are able to accurately view things from a wider perspective, the NBN Secretariat is embarking on a new initiative to get out ‘n’ about.
Each month, one of the Team will spend a day with one of the Network's contributing schemes, societies and organisations to learn more about your work recording in the field and offer a chance to informally discuss the work of the Network, the NBN Strategy and any ideas you may have.
The visiting Secretariat member will write a short article for our ‘eNews’ the following month, to summarise their experience and what they have learned. There will be the opportunity for the hosting group/member to contribute photos and quotes to this article if they so wish.
We hope you agree that this initiative will provide considerable benefits for recorders, the Network, the NBN Trust and the individuals within the Secretariat including:
- increased connection between recorders, the NBN and the NBN Secretariat
- opportunity to raise the profile of the NBN’s contributing organisations
- opportunities for the Secretariat to learn skills from our Network of experts
- opportunity to discuss the NBN with those who may otherwise not currently feel connected to the Network
