NBN Gateway V update on data loading

Due to the teething issues on release of NBN Gateway V, the ‘freeze’ on data loading, as part of the transition from the old to the new Gateway in late October 2013 and an extended testing of the new importer, means there are still a reasonable number of datasets waiting to be loaded. We are however, pleased to announce that we are making good progress and 45 new and updated species datasets are now live on the NBN Gateway.

The new species records importer is more rigorous than the previous one which has led to a large proportion of datasets ‘failing’ import due to validation issues, such as incorrect date formats. These have then required liaison between the data provider and NBN technical team which has taken an unavoidable amount of time on both sides.  Although the delay is frustrating, this does lead to better quality data available via the NBN Gateway and in the data providers’ own databases. Progress on data loading can be seen here on the NBN Gateway.

Dataset administrators will be notified as soon as their datasets are loaded. We intend to load the habitat and geographic datasets after the species datasets.

We apologise to both data providers and data users for the ongoing delay.  We are aware of the impacts this is having on your business operations and it is our top priority to resolve this as quickly as possible.  Thank you once again for your patience and ongoing support.
