There have been many development updates to the NBN Atlas in the last six months. Here are some of the more important ones:
- Records supplied in the data file with the UKSI Taxon Version Key for the common name are now correctly matched to the scientific name. Previously the names were unmatched on the NBN Atlas and the dataset had to be resupplied with the TVK of the scientific name
- The name attribute has been added to the scientific name, e.g. synonyms in the genus Neomyia: https://species.nbnatlas.org/search?fq=idxtype%3ATAXON&q=Neomyia. Scientific names follow the same format as on the UKSI of Name + Authority + Attribute
- The species dictionary was updated with the latest version of the UKSI on 14th October. The main name changes in the update were to the Fungi.
- We have added the field ‘vitality’ to indicate whether the organism was alive or dead at the time of the occurrence. It is possible to filter records on this field but at the moment we have very few records with an entry in the vitality field.
