A milestone in continued commitment to open data and data licencing
In September 2015 the NBN Gateway was equipped with the ability to hold data licences against datasets within its system. Dataset administrators can assign one of four licences to their datasets (including 3 creative commons licences and an Open Government Licence (OGL)). By assigning a pre-defined licence, it gives complete clarity as to what each dataset can be used for.
This month, we are celebrating that 100 data licences have now been assigned to datasets on the NBN Gateway! By assigning data licences, data partners are helping the NBN achieve its commitment to open data and to increase access to data.
We are thrilled that so many of our data partners have helped reach this milestone, and are looking forward to seeing more licences assigned.
A message that repeatedly came through from speakers at the Annual NBN Conference in November 2015, was that the Network should work together to achieve open data in all ways possible. By removing any confusion surrounding Terms and Conditions of data use, we are one step closer to achieving this collective vision.
The NBN Secretariat would like to thank all of those who have helped the Network to reach this milestone of 100 data licences.
