Inspiring conservation projects could get up to £1,000,000

Charities across Great Britain who team up for inspiring conservation projects that seek to restore biodiversity, could get up to £1,000,000 to make their idea a reality.

Now in its eighth year, Postcode Dream Trust, which is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, is making this funding available in 2019.

How to apply

Stage one of the online application process is now open and will close on 31 August 2018.

Britain’s biodiversity is fragile with populations of birds, butterflies and wild flowers decreasing. To be considered for the award, the projects must tackle the root problems causing this decline.

Joe Ray, People’s Postcode Lottery’s Social Investment & Innovation Advisor, has some good advice for those looking to apply. “We are looking for truly creative collaborations that come up with solutions to particular challenges. As part of the application process, we want to know how charities will work together and who will benefit from their project. This really is a fantastic opportunity for charities to team up and do something incredible for communities across England, Scotland and Wales.”

The winner will be announced in January next year.

The funding pot

The Dream Fund has a total funding pot of £3,000,000 for up to three projects. There are also four other themes for 2019 which are;

  • changing lives through early intervention
  • ending loneliness and social isolation
  • sustainable systems change, and
  • transforming society through sport.

Not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply, but the lead for the project must be a registered charity.
