As part of the process of establishing the Scottish Biodiversity Information Forum (SBIF) SNH has launched a questionnaire to identify the main issues and opportunities relating to biodiversity data and to gauge interest in the Forum.
You can play an important role in the Forum’s development. If you have not received an introductory email on the set up of the SBIF the Briefing Note provides some useful information. You can also download the 'Summary of Evidence of the Need for SBIF' that the BRISC Chair has compiled.
The questionnaire aims to help build the foundations of the Forum by identifying the key challenges that organisations face in the data flow system and identifying potential solutions. This information will be collated and made available for the sector discussions and at the SBIF workshop, on 25th May 2012 at Battleby (near Perth), to assist Forum participants in prioritising the challenges which need to be addressed. It will also help SNH to plan the workshop by gauging the level of interest in joining the SBIF and the willingness of respondents to become active participants.
Please complete the questionnaire on behalf of your organisation. The deadline for returns is 18 April 2012. It will be most useful if you can consult with your relevant colleagues to obtain an overview of your organisation’s position. For example, in a local authority this may include ecologists, GIS/data managers, land managers, policy officers, planners and rangers. To help you do this a PDF version of the questionnaire can be downloaded to distribute internally. Please use it for consultation purposes only – you cannot save data typed into the PDF.
