Innovative Monitoring Approaches Funding Call

Natural Environment research Council (NERC) is inviting proposals for innovation projects focused on developing innovative monitoring approaches.

Projects should be challenge-led, focusing on the application of existing environmental science monitoring capabilities and expertise (e.g. technologies, techniques and tools for measuring and modelling, deployment and interpretation). Projects should tackle industry, policy, regulator or other relevant end-user defined challenges and opportunities within the infrastructure, oil and gas and offshore renewable energy sectors.  All proposals must involve a relevant ‘end-user’ project partner(s).

The funding call will have two stages – an outline proposal stage and a full proposal stage. Outline proposals must be submitted via Je-S by 16.00 on 15 June 2017. Only those applicants successful at the outline stage will be invited to submit a full proposal, the closing date for which will be in mid-September 2017.

Projects may be feasibility studies (up to 6 months) or innovation projects (up to 18 months). The maximum that can be applied for per project is £350,000 (80% FEC). Projects are expected to start on 1 January 2018.
