Grants and funding for young people

A number of grants and funding options are now available as detailed below.

Grants for British Science Week are now open!

Dates of British Science Week: 9 – 18 March 2-18

Theme: ‘Discovery and Exploration’.

Activity packs: available from January

There are two types of grant to support schools to run events and projects during British Science Week 2018.

  • Kick Start grant of up to £300 to run an event for students at your school; or
  • Kick Start More grant of up to £700 if your event involves parents or others in the local community too.

You could use the grant to fund a wide range of activity, including: booking a science presenter; organising a memorable science fair; purchasing resources for cross-curricular activities; CREST Award registration fees; taking a class on a trip.

Funding to run CREST Awards with students underrepresented in STEM

In December, grants of up to £600 will become available to support schools and organisations to run CREST Awards with young people that do not typically engage in STEM. This may include who are eligible for Pupil Premium, students who have special educational needs or disabilities, and BAME students.
