The NBN Gateway team has released a suite of Web Mapping Services (WMS) covering single species mapping, dataset mapping and designation mapping. Aimed at users of GIS tools such as ArcMap and qGIS, these services allow users to bring NBN Gateway data directly into their GIS workflows. This improves the flow of mapping images from the Gateway to its users.
A WMS is a standard protocol for serving georeferenced map images over the Internet. It allows mapping layers to be presented in desktop tools so that users can compare NBN Gateway data to other sources of spatial data at their disposal.
NBN WMS’ allow filtering of data by dataset and year using custom arguments in the URL. Users may also supply their Gateway login details to utilise any improved data access they may hold. More details and instructions on use are available from the Web Services Guidebook
