Climate Week is a supercharged national occasion that offers an annual renewal of our ambition and confidence to combat climate change. It is for everyone wanting to do their bit to protect our planet and create a secure future.
Climate Week will shine a spotlight on the many positive steps already being taken in workplaces and communities across Britain. The power of these real, practical examples – the small improvements and the big innovations – will then inspire millions more people.
Thousands of businesses, charities, schools, councils and others will run events during Climate Week on 21-27 March 2011. They will show what can be achieved, share ideas and encourage thousands more to act during the rest of the year.
Win an Award
The Climate Week Awards celebrate the UK’s most innovative, effective, and ambitious organisations, communities and individuals and their outstanding efforts to combat climate change.
Together, they offer powerful illustrations of what can be achieved to make Britain a low-carbon society. By celebrating the very best innovations, practices and leadership, they aim to inspire more.
Free to enter, the Climate Week Awards will be judged by a star panel of independent experts and presented to winners on 21 March 2011. The panel includes the author of the Stern report Lord Nicholas Stern, the environmental advisors to Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Prince of Wales, and the Met Office Chief Scientist. The awards are for work to lower carbon emissions or combat climate change in categories such as Business, Education and Community. Other judges include the former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, the Corporate and Legal Affairs Director for Tesco, Lucy Neville-Rolfe, and the novelist Ian McEwan
