City Nature Challenge is back!

Join residents of 650+ cities across the world in an epic, global mission: to record as much wildlife as possible, between Friday 25 April and Monday 28 April 2025. This year a record number of UK cities are taking part – find your city’s project page to see the records that are being made in your city in real-time on iNaturalist over the 4 day challenge.

Last year a total of 65,682 species were recorded globally, and 83,528 people took part in the challenge. This year is City Nature Challenge’s 10-year anniversary – we’re expecting to see more records than ever before!

Your city region isn’t competing this year?

No worries! If you head to City Nature Challenge’s “Global Project” page on iNaturalist , you can “join” to let them know you’re taking part – this way you can record wildlife from anywhere, and your records will still count towards the global totals. You can record any wildlife you wish – plants, birds, invertebrates, fungi, everything counts!
