Were you involved in the Festival of Nature BioBlitz at Wild Place Project in South Gloucestershire?
If so, the event discovered 372 species on 13th and 14th May including 6 new to the county (3 lichens, a bamboo, a beetle and a barklouse). The event piloted a new structure for BioBlitz, running family friendly walks in parallel with a more in depth survey programme that focused on skills development and introducing new recorders.
Initial feedback suggests that this may be a valuable approach for converting passive wildlife enthusiasts into active recorders. Further analysis to follow, so watch this space!
