Bat mitigation licensing consultation

Consultation open for stakeholders in the development process.

The Earned Recognition Project is a partnership between Natural England, the Bat Conservation Trust and the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management. The aims of the project are to design a scheme to streamline the mitigation licensing process for bats in England, raise and maintain professional standards in bat mitigation work and improve outcomes for bats. Mitigation licences (also known as European Protected Species licences) regulate development activities that would otherwise be illegal, such as disturbance to bats or damage/destruction of roosts.

The partnership has launched a consultation for stakeholders in the development process (e.g. developers, architects, planners, planning consultants, builders) to gather views on the proposed ER scheme. Please note that a detailed consultation for ecologists is running concurrently.
