As you are no doubt aware, the National Biodiversity Network, in conjunction with the National Forum for Biological Recording and the Biological Records Centre, has established a new awards scheme to celebrate outstanding achievement in biological recording and information sharing here in the UK.
We are delighted by the number of nominations we received and the amount of support given to these awards by network partners especially through social media – thank you!

Terrestrial and freshwater:
Gilbert White youth award – 16 nominations
Gilbert White adult award – 23 nominations
Marine and coastal:
David Robertson youth award – 4 nominations
David Robertson adult award – 9 nominations
Next steps
The Awards Committee, comprising representatives from NBN, NFBR, BRC and the Sponsor, Swarovski Optik UK, will meet on 21st October to discuss and agree the winners.
Winners will then be notified and invited to the ceremony, which is being held in York, on the evening of Thursday 19th November. Travel costs will be covered by the NBN. We will announce the winners publicly after the event, so watch this space!
