Atkins Ecology Collected Works

Atkins, one of the world's most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies, has published a collection of papers that demonstrates how they help clients meet their ecological obligations and the European Commission’s strategy for no net loss of biodiversity. These new challenges for biodiversity require robust ecological methodologies and innovative mitigation measures to ensure built development and infrastructure projects are delivered taking full account of environmental issues.

Atkins has a commitment to sharing knowledge across the environmental sector as well as ensuring that such advice is available to those working on projects involving development. Whilst they have encouraged staff to publish papers in a variety of publications, they recognise that not all of these are freely available to all readers.  With kind permission of the original publications, they have brought all these papers together in one document, “From Regeneration to Roman Snails”.

This collection of technical ecology papers – published over the past few years by Atkins’ ecologists from the UK and North America – represents Atkins’ commitment to providing high quality, forward-thinking advice on biodiversity and ecosystem services.
