Innovative Monitoring Approaches – funding call and brokerage events.
Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is inviting proposals for innovation projects focused on developing innovative monitoring approaches. Projects should be challenge-led, focusing on the application of existing environmental science monitoring capabilities and expertise. These could be technologies, techniques and tools for measuring and modelling, deployment and interpretation.
What should the projects tackle?
Projects should tackle industry, policy, regulator or other relevant end-user defined challenges and opportunities within the infrastructure, oil and gas and offshore renewable energy sectors. Challenges and opportunities within these sectors are often similar; however different sectors may use different approaches or techniques. Proposals which address challenges across these sectoral boundaries, or which transfer approaches across sectors, are encouraged. All proposals must involve a relevant ‘end-user’ project partner(s).
Funding call stages
The funding call will have two stages – an outline proposal stage and a full proposal stage. The Je-S system will open for submissions at the end of March 2017. Outline proposals must be submitted via Je-S by 15 June 2017. Only those applicants successful at the outline stage will be invited to submit a full proposal, the closing date for which will be in mid-September 2017.
Brokerage events
Two full-day brokerage events will be held on 26 April 2017 in Edinburgh and 5 May 2017 in Southampton to provide information on the call and bring together academics along with business, policy and regulator representatives to network and develop ideas for project proposals.
Further information
Further information about this call can be found and details on how to submit a proposal, can be found on the NERC website.
