The NBN Trust is sponsoring five NBN members to gain a certificate in web writing skills. This certificate is the equivalent of a one-day workshop on how to write for the Web or intranet and is suitable for anyone that manages web content for your society or organisation. Course participants will gain skills for writing web copy, up-to-date techniques that make your content easy to read and easy for search engines to find and a simple, powerful way to edit web content. Participants will gain five hours continuing professional development (and a CPD certificate).
The curriculum includes five courses:
1. Writing for online readers. Communicate with readers who are uncomfortable, stressed, searching, and in a hurry.
2. Writing web headlines. Write web headlines that instantly communicate with people and influence search engines.
3. Writing web page summaries. Write 5 distinct types of web summaries that communicate the main message instantly. Recognise summaries that do not work.
4. Writing useful hyperlinks. Know what to write instead of Click Here.
5. Editing web content. A powerful 4-step web editing system, easy to remember and use.
The certificate is suitable for communication professionals, web writers, bloggers, copywriters, content authors and everyone whose work includes writing. No IT knowledge is required and there are no pre-requisites apart from the need to access a computer and the internet. The certificate is achieved through distance learning online and you can start any time.
If you would like one of these five sponsored places please contact the NBN Trust with your name, the name of your organisation (it must be an NBN member) and the name of the website for which you are content manager. Places will be given on a first come first served basis.
