Lisa Chilton to depart as NBN Trust CEO

It is with mixed feelings that I share with you that, after four happy years at the NBN Trust, I’m moving to pastures new. I’ll be leaving the Trust on 7 May to take up the position of CEO at Scotland: The Big Picture, Scotland’s rewilding charity.

It has been an honour and a genuine pleasure to lead the NBN Trust. The NBN is a truly remarkable community and it’s been intensely rewarding to work with you to drive forward our mission of making data work for nature. From launching the Better Biodiversity Data project to publishing our 2022-27 Strategy, and from the root-and-branch upgrade of the NBN Atlas to participating in our fabulous NBN Conferences, it’s been an enjoyable, data-driven whirlwind from start to finish! The NBN Trust’s small but dedicated team has inspired and re-inspired me throughout these four years, and I’d like to thank each of them for their skill, passion and dedication.

I’ve so enjoyed working with the NBN community, and I’m incredibly grateful for your support and advocacy for the Trust’s work. We can only achieve Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable biodiversity data through effective partnership and collaboration.  I’m really proud of the difference our collaboration is making.

The search for the Trust’s new CEO is now live, so please help us share this far and wide. I’m working closely with our Chair, Pete Tomlin, and our Board to ensure continuity and a smooth transition for the Trust.

With thanks again for your support and ‘all power to your elbow’. I’ll be following the future development of the NBN and the Trust with interest, care and pride.
