Funding to Increase Local Green Spaces (Greater Manchester)
Grants of up to £40,000 are available for community-led projects that increase the amount and quality of accessible, nature-rich green space. The funding is made available by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority through the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund for projects that improve local green spaces or create new ones, particularly in the areas where people need it most. Projects could include creating new permanent parklets or pocket parks; community gardening and food growing; turning paved-over areas to green areas; and cleaning up and restoring streams, rivers, canals, and ponds. Charities, community groups, CICs, social enterprises, tenant and resident associations, schools and academy trusts have until 12pm on the 9 June to submit their applications.

Funding for Community Environmental Activities (Dorset & Ringwood)
Grants of up to £2,000 are available to registered charities, community and voluntary organisations, social enterprises, schools and parish councils, etc to support community activities in Dorset and Ringwood aimed at improving the local environment. The funding is made available through the Wessex Water Environment Fund which aims to support initiatives that improve local biodiversity and environmental sustainability and reduce water use. Projects previously funded include local litter picking activities, a community tree planting event, planting bee friendly pollinating corridors, and an education project aimed at changing personal behaviours relating to environmental sustainability. The funding can be used to cover core and project costs, including equipment, salaries and overhead costs. Pre-application support is particularly encouraged for groups who have not applied to the grant programmes before but is available for anyone in need of advice about the application process. The deadline for applications is 12pm on the 22 May.

Funding for Community Activities to Improve the Local Environmental (Bristol & Somerset)
Community and voluntary organisations, charities, and other not-for-profit organisations in Bristol, Bath & North-East Somerset, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire can apply for grants of up to £2,000 to support community activities that improve the local environment. The Wessex Water Foundation Environment Fund will support initiatives that improve local biodiversity and environmental sustainability and reduce water use. Funding has previously been used to restore and maintain a wildlife pond, to install a litter picking station in a park, and to install a rainwater harvesting solution and irrigation system in a community garden. The funding can be used to cover core and project costs, including equipment, salaries and overhead costs. The deadline for applications is 10am on the 22 May.
