Far too few people study biodiversity. That’s why Field Studies Council (FSC) is searching for (and paying) people to train enthusiasts and professionals.
You don’t have to be an expert. Rather, you need to demonstrate natural history know how and passion. FSC will help your pedagogy and practice through online and in-person courses. Share what you love. Meet new people and visit great locations.
What’s involved?
As one of the Field Studies Council’s natural history ‘associate’ tutors, you will inspire adult learners in specialist subject training. Perhaps through an introductory course. Maybe an advanced course.
You can typically expect to create or review learning materials for use by other tutors, and/or, you can expect to run training courses by tutoring groups of individuals via online tutorials or face to face.
The Field Studies Council books most tutors for a few days a year to work at home or from one or more locations near where they live.
What specialism is required?
The FSC is currently looking for tutors to run courses in the following areas, in particular, but please get in touch about any areas of expertise:
Based anywhere:
- QGIS tutors for the delivery of online Zoom tutorials
- Trees and shrubs specialists for the delivery of both online and place-based courses
Based in the central belt of Scotland or London:
- Tutors with a specialist subject knowledge of specific groups within any of the following areas: environmental field skills, plants, vertebrates, invertebrates, fungi, lichens or marine life.
