New NBN Chief Executive

The NBN Secretariat is delighted to announce that our new CEO, Jo Judge, will be joining us at the end of May.

We are sure Jo will be in touch with many of you personally once she is in post, but in the meantime, here is a little bit of information about her.

In my early 20s, I travelled extensively and lived aboard for a number of years before deciding that I needed to get a proper education. Once I started studying I couldn’t stop, doing a BSc in Zoology in London, an MRes in Ecology and Environmental Management in York and a PhD in wildlife disease ecology in Edinburgh.

For the past 15 years I have worked within the public sector, conducting research into wildlife disease and how the behaviour of wildlife affects the spread of disease within and between species. I have worked with a variety of wildlife including lagomorphs, mustelids, bats and eagles. I am particularly passionate about the real world application of research and the communication of science to audiences of all backgrounds.

I currently live in the Cotswolds with my husband, two dogs and two parrots (although they came with the husband). We (except the parrots) can often be found out walking and indulging in a spot of wildlife photography and admiring nature in general.

I am very much looking forward to taking up my role at NBN.
