Website allows you to see and contribute to the species’ photos and records for Leicestershire and Rutland
Nature Spot is the website in question and is a partnership between Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust and Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire.
It has:
- An illustrated species library, covering over 2000 Leicestershire and Rutland species (all images taken in VC55), including descriptions, habitat, life history and status information, plus NBN distribution maps.
- An online recording form (utilising Indicia) where you can submit records of your wildlife sightings.
- A Wild Places section, with interactive maps, site information, species lists and a gallery of images from the site.
- My Records and My Images pages which store all records and photos submitted by each user, which can be filtered, sorted and downloaded as desired.
- A NatureChat forum that enables discussion about anything related to local wildlife, recording and nature photography.
- Identification help – all uploaded images allow comment enabling users to help each other determine or confirm the species’ identity
