Beautiful Farm Award goes to wildlife rich farmland in Wales
We are delighted to mention two of our NBN e-news subscribers, Huw and Thelma Jones who recently got a Commended Certificate in the Beautiful Farm Awards in a ceremony at the House of Lords. The award was given largely based on their ecological work and is great story to show that small efforts to preserve ecology can receive public recognition.
With only 27 acres, they have over 150 species of plants, 60 species of birds, 230 species of moths and many mammals, fungi and lichens in their area. As the best placed farm in Wales, it should also be noted that for their class in the awards, they were up against farms that were 10 times bigger, and several farms that had 100 times the area.
Huw and Thelma are keen to make their data available through the Gateway later in the summer.
