Welcome to the first issue of the NBN’s e-Newsletter!
We have produced NBN News as a printed copy for many years and now believe it is time to reduce our paper output and have decided that in the future we will publish the Newsletter as an electronic copy only. Look out for the logo below in your emails and make sure the sender’s address secretariat@nbn.org.uk is in your whitelist for your spam filter.
This has three main benefits:
- It will significantly reduce the amount of printed material we produce. We have 1600 subscribers, which means (with spare copies) we produce around 7000 copies per year. With an average of 12 pages per issue – that’s a lot of paper!
- It will significantly reduce the cost of printing and postage, which will enable us to direct these funds to other worthwhile activities
- Sending the Newsletter electronically means that it can be easily distributed to more people at reduced cost.
Submitting news articles
Communicating stories from across the Network will be as vital as ever and so the process for submitting articles to the e-Newsletter has not changed. If you have any articles which you want to submit you should send these to Mandy by the deadlines indicated below:
- Summer – Copy deadline 19th May 2010. Issue circulated at the end of June.
- Autumn – Copy deadline 11th August 2010 . Issue circulated at the end of September.
- Winter – Copy deadline 3rd November 2010. Issue circulated before Christmas.
Targeting communication
In addition to the e-Newsletter we will continue to send out monthly e-mail updates. These allow us to tell you what is happening in the NBN on a regular basis and mean you will be far better informed than receiving the Newsletter only four times a year. It also means we can send specific information to the different sectors involved in the NBN, so we hope you will receive more targeted and up to date communications from us in the future.
Contact details
We have recently undertaken a thorough update of our contacts database in order to make sure we are reaching as many people as possible. This is an ongoing task and we would therefore be very grateful if you could inform us of any changes to your details. This will ensure you receive all the relevant communications in the future. You can also opt to receive information on specific topics which are of most interest to you.NBN eNews and all our communications in the future.
As ever, we would be very grateful for any comments or suggestions you may have, so please do e-mail Mandy if you have anything to say.
