John Burnett memorial lecture

This year’s NBN Conference was the perfect occasion to hold the second John Burnett memorial lecture.  The NBN Trust was delighted that Professor Aubrey Manning delivered the lecture at the Natural History Museum on 21st November.

The theme of the lecture was ‘Biodiversity and our future’, and was a call to arms, reminding us that biodiversity, and in particular monitoring and recording it, are of fundamental importance in an increasingly vulnerable world.   The talk was delivered in Aubrey’s inimitable style, polished from years as a science ‘communicator’ of the first order. We were also pleased that Sir John Burnett’s two sons, Nick and Andrew, were able to attend and hear Aubrey speak.

The memorial lecture will now be given annually during the NBN Conference.
