The National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Trust is delighted to have been awarded a grant through the Green Community Grants Programme, made possible thanks to players of the Postcode Lottery.
The funding from the Postcode Green Trust in partnership with The Wildlife Trusts will support the continued provision and improvement of the NBN Atlas, the UK’s largest online biodiversity data portal, which holds over 387 million wildlife records and is developed and hosted by the NBN Trust.
As a national environmental charity, the NBN Trust relies on partnerships and funding to ensure biodiversity data remains accessible to researchers, conservation organisations, decision-makers and communities.
The grant will help sustain the National Biodiversity Network and enable the NBN Trust to continue to assist data partners and users of the NBN Atlas to share, access and use wildlife information to support action on nature recovery.
Holly McCain, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at the NBN Trust said:
“We are delighted to receive this support through the Green Community Grants Programme. Thanks to Postcode Lottery players, this funding will help us continue to host and improve the NBN Atlas, ensuring vital biodiversity data remains accessible to everyone who needs it. High-quality wildlife data is essential for understanding and tackling biodiversity loss, and this grant will help us continue making data work for nature across the UK.”
Cath Hare, Head of Grants at The Wildlife Trusts said:
“The Green Community Grants Programme funding will help to sustain the long-term provision of the NBN Atlas biodiversity data portal; safeguarding hundreds-of-millions of wildlife records for public access. We are pleased to be able to support important work like this which contributes to nature recovery.”
The Green Community Grants Programme funds are awarded by the Postcode Green Trust.
