The National Education Nature Park was launched in Spring 2023. This ambitious programme aims to empower children and young people to make a positive difference to both their own and nature’s future. The NBN Trust is a partner in the project to ensure that biodiversity data collected is made available and shared, where possible, to the NBN Atlas. iNaturalistUK was chosen as the tool to be used by schools and other educational establishments to collate biodiversity data. The NBN Trust has been working with the Natural History Museum, Royal Horticultural Society and other partners to develop resources for schools to help develop future biodiversity recorders.
Learners are now being encouraged to use iNaturalistUK to record wildlife on their sites. Please help share the message and let any parents and teachers know about the project. Webinar: Evidencing biodiversity gains through the National Education Nature Park
The Government-funded National Education Nature Park supports schools across England to record habitats and biodiversity on their school sites and take action to enhance their site for nature. Postdoctoral Researchers at the Natural History Museum, supported by partners including UKCEH, NBNT and the RHS, will be analysing this vast dataset to evidence and examine nature recovery within heavily used sites such as schools.
