About Emily

As a nature enthusiast who is passionate about working with data and citizen science, I’m thrilled to be a part of the NBN Trust.

Prior to joining the NBN Trust I worked as a data officer for the Hertfordshire Environmental Records Centre, delivering the update of ancient woodland and habitat datasets. Before this I undertook my PhD research on the verification of ecological citizen science data, exploring how we can improve the efficiency of this process without compromising data accuracy. I have also been involved in research that examines the role citizen science can play in ensuring plant biosecurity, through citizen science programmes that monitor invasive plant pests and diseases. I also have experience in science communication and policy engagement and have previously worked at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Edinburgh as a network and engagement officer.

Outside of work I’m a keen hill walker and wild swimmer!
