In our latest data sharing news, we are pleased to highlight the following new or updated datasets, which have contributed to an amazing 385,417,980* occurrences for 51,438 species now being shared on the NBN Atlas! It’s also 1.9m+ new records since our last update in June!
Here are the latest additions and updates helping to strengthen our understanding of UK biodiversity
📊Significant data sharing from five Local Environmental Records Centres:
- Argyll Biological Records Centre – Argyll Biological Records Dataset – 308,426 records
- BIS for Powys & Brecon Beacons National Park – various data resources – 758,674 records
- Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall & Isles of Scilly – ORKS Wildlife Recording Platform, Cornwall & Isles of Scilly – 338,335 records
- Leicestershire and Rutland Environmental Records Centre – Leicestershire and Rutland Environmental Records Centre records 2020-2024 – 515,913 records
- Lancashire Environment Record Network – LERN Records – 2,978,221 records.
🔄New or updated data resources
- Bat Conservation Trust has shared 222,620 new or updated records for several surveys, namely – Waterway, Field, Hibernation, Woodland and Sunset-Sunrise Surveys as well as Roost Count
- Natural Resources Wales has shared 910,699 records through new or updated resources from its KiEco Marine Ecology and KiEco Freshwater Ecology datasets
- RSPB has shared 89,131 records including 59 records from a new data resource – 2025 Saving Slavonian Grebes Project Monitoring
- The Woodland Trust has shared 102,436 new or updated records
- Natural History Museum, London has shared 1,265,019 new or updated records from its Collection Specimens
- MammalWeb has shared 284,959 records
- Leeds Museums and Galleries – new data resource Petrographical microscope thin sections of coal balls showing fossil plant and fungal remains from the Pennine Lower Coal Measures (Halifax and Rochdale area), of the Lower Pennsylvanian Series. – 29
- Water Management Consortium – Water vole records from 1 January 1999 – 1 January 2025 across Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board, Trent Valley IDB, Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Water Level Management Board and Doncaster East IDB – 13,144
