As we reported earlier this year, we are making changes to the NBN Trust membership scheme.
The first phase, applicable to individual members, has already been rolled out and the changes are proving to be positive. Thank you if you are supporting the NBN Trust through individual membership.
We are now contacting all organisational members with information about the changes in advance of their renewals for 2027/28. The new scheme will come into effect from 1 April 2027 and will be applicable to renewals after this date and for subsequent financial years. We hope that by giving advance notice of these changes it will allow organisations sufficient time to consider and plan for them ahead of implementation.
Updating a complex scheme
The current NBN Trust organisational membership model has evolved over time and now includes a range of membership categories, fee structures and discount arrangements. To create a clearer, fairer and more sustainable approach, we have developed a revised scheme that better reflects the wide diversity of organisations across the Network. The new model is designed to be proportionate, ensuring organisations contribute according to their size, income and available resources and benefits will be aligned to the level of contribution.
Small recording schemes, organisations with little or no income, and those unable to pay a subscription will continue to play an important role in the Network. While they will no longer hold NBN Trust membership, they will still be able to participate, share data, and access a range of Network resources. Organisations that become Data-sharing Members will also benefit from a discounted annual rate.
More information on the new scheme will be available on the membership pages on the NBN Trust website once we have contacted all current members.
Further updates will be provided before 1 April 2027, so please sign up to Network News to receive the latest information.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we introduce a simpler, fairer and more accessible membership scheme for the Network and the Trust.
