Phil Bysh

Better Biodiversity Data – Programme Manager

Role at the NBN Trust

About Phil

I’ve had a lifelong interest in birds, which has led me to many extraordinary wild places across the UK and throughout the world.

Before joining the NBN Trust, I worked in engineering and telecoms, developing complex technology in user-friendly ways. I learned the importance of good design, making products work for a broad spectrum of users, and the essential role data has in decision making.  My role at the Trust enables me to apply this knowledge to the world of biodiversity, which brings together my passion for wildlife and my fascination in how people use technology.

Away from work, I spend my time singing and playing trumpet in bands, cycling, cooking, volunteering at the National Museums of Scotland and, of course, birding.
