Nominations for the 2024 NBN Awards for Wildlife Recording have now closed

Through these Awards, the National Biodiversity Network Trust recognises significant achievements and celebrates successes in wildlife recording in the UK.

The 35 short-listed Finalists of the 2024 NBN Awards were announced on Thursday 5 September and the 2024 winners and those who are highly commended will be announced at the NBN Conference on 21 November, in Liverpool – and will be publicised via social media.

In the meantime, you can keep up to date with the NBN Awards for Wildlife Recording 2024 by searching the hashtag #NBNawards24 on social media.

The NBN Awards for Wildlife Recording 2024

This year there are seven categories of awards, including two new ones:

  • NBN Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 (new Award category)
  • NBN Verifier’s Award 2024 (new Award category)
  • NBN Award for Terrestrial Wildlife Recording 2024
  • NBN Award for Marine Wildlife Recording 2024
  • NBN Group Award 2024
  • NBN Newcomer Award 2024
  • NBN Young Person’s Award 2024 (open to individuals aged 11-20)

Nominations close on Wednesday 3 April 2024, and the NBN Award winners will be announced at the National Biodiversity Network Conference in November.

NBN Lifetime Achievement Award 2024

Rules of the NBN Awards

  • Nominations may be made by anyone (including people and organisations that are not Network members).  You may even nominate yourself!
  • Individuals, groups of people or entire organisations are eligible for the awards.
  • The Awards committee, chaired by the NBN Trust’s Communications and Engagement Manager, will decide on the winners each year.
  • Nominations open on 15 January and close on 3 April 2024.
  • The winners will be announced at the NBN Conference in November 2024.

Nominators’ and Nominees’ Contact Details

The privacy of Award nominators’ and nominees’ information is assured. While we might contact the nominator again about the Awards in future years, we will not email any information about the NBN Trust’s other work to the nominator or nominee, unless we have been actively requested to.
