About Mel
From growing up by the River Windrush, frequently found in the cold waters in early spring searching for fish and water voles or exploring badger setts in the woods, to my first degree in Zoology at Edinburgh University, I have always had a passion for conservation. For the last 10 years I have been in Australia managing a Biodiversity Atlas for the state of Victoria and enjoying the long hot summers and vast national parks. Prior to that I have volunteered and worked for a number of conservation and statutory bodies in the UK including Local Record Centres and Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) with a focus on improving data pathways and making those volunteer hours count towards better biodiversity targets.
