About Tony

At 27, having never touched a keyboard and a with a dropped-out college career behind me, I got my first home computer. That moment changed everything – it was like discovering something I somehow already knew. Four decades later, I’m still coding with the same wide-eyed enthusiasm but with hopefully more expertise and purpose.

As a full stack-developer at the National Biodiversity Network Trust, I’ve found that sweet spot where passion meets purpose. Finding the intersection of what I love doing, what I’m good at, what the world needs, and what pays the bills means I get to make data work for nature. Working with our tech stack I help build and maintain systems that bring together wildlife data from 178 nature organisations across the UK. It’s a beautifully self-fulfilling cycle – each technical challenge I solve helps make biodiversity data more accessible, and every improvement to the NBN Atlas helps support critical conservation decisions across the country. Sometimes the best career path isn’t the most obvious one, but it’s the one where your skills find their natural habitat.
