Pearl-Bordered Fritillary in the Trossachs – A Detective Story

Arrive in time for a 19:00 start and we’ll finish around 21:00.

Meeting place: Lendrick Steading (office), Brig o’ Turk, Callander, FK17 8HR.

Parking: Free parking at Little Druim car park, which is just a walk away (cross the road and walk up the drive).

What to expect: Tea and coffee will await you on arrival. The guest speakers for the evening are Nick Cooke (CLEAR Services) & David Barbour (Butterfly Conservation Highland Branch recorder), who’ll share their recent detective work on a fascinating species thought to be lost in the Trossachs, the Pearl-Bordered Fritillary (PBF). As partner organisation, the Woodland Trust at Glen Finglas has been actively involved with the monitoring of this fascinating butterfly and associated habitat.

Nick Cook will talk about the methodology and results of the Trossachs project whilst David Barbour covers other succesful PBF surveys which he has organised in the North of Scotland.

The evening promises to educate and inspire us on the local wildlife.
