Yellow composites (Daisy family) strike terror into the heart of many botanists – there are lots of species which look the same and the terminology to identify them is even worse!

Yet with a little help and familiarity, most (except hawkweeds and dandelions) can be identified relatively easily – no longer will they frighten you to the other side of the road.

This one day workshop will provide an introduction to the more widespread and common yellow composites and the characters used to identify them. We will look at and identify a wide range of fresh material (fresh material of your own is very welcome!). At the end of the session, you should be familiar with the main features of the yellow composites and the diagnostic features that separate out the common species. Much of the terminology will also be applicable to white composites such as mayweeds.

This course is suitable for those who have not looked at yellow composites before and for those who are improvers.

Useful items to bring are a 10x hand lens and identification guides such as Clive Stace’s New Flora of the British Isles or Francis Rose’s Wild flower key.

Cost: £45.00
