Benthic Taxonomy Summer School

18th – 29th June 2012 at The Marine Biological Association of the UK, Plymouth

The two week Benthic Taxonomy Summer School provides students with hands-on experience, working in the marine environment and an introduction to invertebrate species identification skills. The course will build upon practical sampling and identification skills which many students will have gained during related undergraduate degree courses and provide the skills and experience vital to those wishing to pursue a commercial or academic career in Marine Biology.  Week 1 will involve intertidal and subtidal sampling and the sorting and identification of the samples collected. Week 2 will concentrate on the identification of the two most commonly encountered groups of benthic invertebrates: marine polychaetes and amphipods.

Participants can attend either or both weeks.
