Ground Beetle Recording Scheme

The Ground Beetle Recording Scheme was set up under the auspices of the Biological Records Centre, CEH Monks Wood, in 1971. It has sought to collate existing data on Carabid beetles from the literature and unpublished sources, and to use these to produce a Preliminary Atlas of British Carabidae (Coleoptera) in 1982, and subsequently the Provisional atlas of the ground beetles (Coleoptera, Carabidae) of Britain in 1998. Work is ongoing to collate further data on ground beetles, with the eventual intention to revise the atlas. Work is also in hand to produce a photo guide to British Carabids.
