Mammal Society Annual Conference

Location:
Nottingham Trent University, Brackenhurst Campus, Southwell, Nottinghamshire
Starts:
Friday 4 August 2023, 18:30
Ends:
Sunday 6 August 2023, 17:00

The theme of this year’s Mammal Society Annual Conference is The Future of Conservation, and there’s an amazing line-up of keynote speakers, research presentations, workshops and demonstrations – all set in the beautiful grounds of Nottingham Trent University’s leafy Brackenhurst campus.

From academics, consultants and conservation professionals to environmental campaigners, grassroots nature activists and recent life-science graduates exploring career pathways in conservation – there’s something for everyone.

There will be a host of interesting talks, workshops and field visits on all things mammal-related – with sessions on different, innovative, methods of monitoring mammals and lectures on environmental and habitat influences on mammals.

Hear from industry experts and keynote speakers about reintroduction programmes, as well as a talk from the committee of the People’s Plan for Nature. Mammal Society Chair, Dr. Stephanie Wray, will be presenting the Friday Night Lecture on ‘The Future of Nature Conservation’.

For the first time, this year there will be free children’s workshops for young people aged 7 to 17 on the Saturday of the conference – so while you engage with fascinating presentations and workshops, they can be absorbed in forest school, craft activities or (for the older children) animal care workshops.
