This popular One-Day Marine Data Management Awareness Course is organised in co-operation with IMarEST.

The event introduces attendees to Data Management and why it is so important. Subjects covered will include the Data Life-Cycle, Data and Metadata Standards, Co-ordinate Reference Systems and Data Quality and Publishing. The day concludes with a discussion on the challenges organisations face in achieving Data Management ‘Best Practise’.

Who should attend?

Data is now considered to be the new oil or the new electricity. It costs money so we always collect it for a very good reason. Because it is such a valuable asset – only company employees are more valuable – it needs to be treated accordingly. So, if you are involved in collecting, managing, using or publishing marine data, then this course will provide you with a valuable insight on why ‘data really does matter’.

The course, delivered by data management specialists OceanWise, is aimed at those who work with marine data from its capture, processing, ingestion, re-use and curation and those seeking to discover, view, download and transform data. It is about knowing what data you already have, where it is, how to find it and how good it is.
