Dr Abigail Lowe will be part of our panel discussion on:

“Verification – challenges and opportunities”

Abigail’s interest in this subject – In a recent piece of work funded through the Terrestrial Surveillance Development and Analysis (TSDA) partnership, Abigail and colleagues explored how digital technologies (including AI) could support volunteer verifiers. Using iRecord data and insights from verifier workshops, the research identified opportunities to reduce verification bottlenecks, improve feedback to recorders, and increase the availability of high-quality biodiversity data for nature recovery, whilst retaining expert oversight and decision-making.

Abigail is Interdisciplinary Ecologist at UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology is a world-leading independent research institute, carrying out excellent environmental science with impact. Abigail’s research focuses on citizen science, co-design, and the development of practical tools that support biodiversity monitoring and public engagement with nature.
