Katie-jo Luxton – NBN Conference 2025
Katie-jo Luxton will be delivering this year’s Sir John Burnett Memorial Lecture:
“Making data work for nature; the value of monitoring and recording to inform State of Nature reporting, drive recovery action and influence systemic change”
Abstract: This talk will explore how a shared biodiversity evidence base enables policy making and action for nature restoration at a range of scales, drawing on a range of examples from the RSPBs work in the UK and internationally.
Katie-jo Luxton is the RSPB’s Executive Director of Global Conservation leading the RSPB’s mission to save species, protect habitats and restore landscapes to help end the nature and climate emergencies and inspire others to do the same. She has particular experience of evidence-based policy advocacy for birds in the UK working with governments on a wider range of areas including agricultural policy for farmland birds and most recently on how the offshore energy transition can be delivered alongside seabird recovery. She is passionate about demonstrating where policy can deliver in practice and leads RSPB’s work to develop exemplars of landscape scale nature recovery in the UK and around the world.
The RSPB is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature. It brings people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world.
