“From Observation to Action: Using iNaturalist to help Monitor and Elevate Plant Health Awareness in the UK”

Abstract: Using iNaturalist to monitor UK plant health risks, this talk explores citizen science’s potential in early detection, public awareness, and supporting national biosecurity efforts.

Duncan Allen is a plant pest scientist and risk analyst at DEFRA – Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. His background is in Entomology and before working in Plant health, he worked for the RSPB and Buglife. DEFRA is responsible for improving and protecting the environment. It aims to grow a green economy and sustain thriving rural communities.
